Audrey Harwood

Hello there, my name is Audrey Harwood and I was born and raised in the Southern Willamette Valley. I currently reside in Southern Idaho. I’m going to be attending University of Idaho come January 2022 in Moscow for my 3rd year of college and majoring in Animal Science to then transfer to Washington State University for vet school. My favorite event at the cattle barons is always watching the stock dogs work! It is truly amazing. A big thank you to all the volunteers, board members, sponsors, and everyone else it takes to put this amazing event together. See you all in 2022!

Macy Rosselle

My name is Macy Rosselle and I will be a senior at Oklahoma State this fall studying Ag Business Pre-Law with a minor in Environmental Economics, Policy, and Politics. After graduating, I plan to attend law school with my eyes currently set on the University of Arkansas with the hopes of obtaining a Juris Doctorate in Ag Law, and my masters in Agricultural Economics as well. I plan to land in a career focusing on legislation and policy surrounding Agriculture and Natural Resources, preferably in Oregon or in Washington D.C. I am extremely grateful for the Pendleton Cattle Barons for their dedication to improving the future of the agricultural industry through providing scholarships to those wanting to return to the industry. Growing up, I showed livestock competitively on a national as well as local level and sadly there were several years that conflicted with attending Cattle Barons. However I remember enjoying the days spent during school helping to set up as an FFA member and years before that, watching my great grandfather consign geldings in the sale.

Taylor Walgamott

Hello, my name is Taylor Ann Skramstad-Walgamott, and I am from the small community of Umapine, Oregon. I am currently seeking a Juris Doctor at University of Idaho College of Law to become an Agriculture Attorney, and plan to focus my legal studies on ranching and livestock advocacy, land use, contract law and water law. I am also the current President of the Idaho Agriculture Law Society and plan to further continue my education by obtaining a Ph.D. in Agriculture Science to give me the best knowledge and platform to run for public office. As a public servant, I plan to create pro agriculture legislation, and lobby for the agriculture industry. Some of my previous advocacy experience includes 2017 Pendleton Round Up Princess and 2019 Miss Rodeo Oregon, and I am incredibly thankful for Pendleton Cattle Barons and Protect the Harvest for investing in my education! I hope you will see my name on a ballot one day! My favorite part of Pendleton Cattle Barons Weekend is the gathering of some of the industry's best and the ranch rodeo that keeps the western tradition alive. The BBQ contest is definitely a close second because it keeps getting better every year!

Castle, Cassie - 2022 Scholarship Photo.jpg

Cassie Castle

I am from the small town of Prosser, WA. I made Oregon my home 6 years ago when I first came to Blue Mountain Community College. Agriculture Education was not an original focus of mine when I first started my education journey. After meeting several inspirational figures in Pendleton and in Oregon’s Agriculture Industries, my passion for teaching grew. Pendleton Cattle Barons is a great event that I look forward to every year. There are always smiling faces and new attractions that keep me attending. Yes, my favorite attraction is the Ranch Rodeo; however, I most look forward to sitting down and talking with the board members. Catching up with friends and hearing what life has been like for them since our previous visit is top of my to do list. I am very thankful to Pendleton Cattle Barons and to all of their attendees, not only for their contribution to scholarships, but also because their presence contributes to the advocacy of western tradition. Building on the tradition of horsemanship, rodeo, art, and a strong community are messages of unity that I am grateful to be a part of and promise to one day teach in my own classroom.

Cierra Grant

My name is Cierra Grant and I am a student at Eastern Oregon University. I am working to complete my bachelors in Molecular Biology and I’m on the pre-vet track with minors in chemistry and animal science. I am currently applying to vet schools to become a large animal veterinarian. In my free time I enjoy being a weekend cowboy, fishing, and spending time with family. I have volunteered with Cattle Barons for 7 years and enjoy the hard work that goes into putting on this event. My favorite part of Cattle Barons weekend is the ranch rodeo saddle bronc event, I love watching the athleticism of the horses as they go head to head with the cowboys.

Kinley McAnally

Kinley McAnally is from Pendleton, Oregon where she is currently studying Agriculture Business at Montana State University. She is involved in the MSU Collegiate Stockgrowers club along with the MSU Women’s Cattlemen Association. After college Kinley plans to pressure a career in the agriculture industry where she can give back and help make an impact on those involved in agriculture. Kinley’s passion for agriculture started out at a young age by helping her grandfather on the farm but during her high school years and the involvement in FFA, she knew she wanted to make a career out of it. Pendleton Cattle Barons is one of her favorite events all year. Kinley’s favorite activities to do at Pendleton Cattle Barons are to help set up, sort cattle, time for the bronc riding, and watch the preview for the horse sale.

Mattew Orem

Hi, I am Matthew Orem and I am from Heppner, Oregon. Growing up and working on our family farm and ranch helped me develop a true passion for the agriculture industry. I am currently a sophomore at Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC)  and majoring in AG Production and Livestock Production. After college I plan to return to Morrow and Umatilla Counties to farm and raise cattle. As a young farmer I would like to use my resources to educate the public about agriculture. BMCC has taught me modern day practices that will help me create a sustainable future for agriculture. I always enjoy attending the Pendleton Cattle Barons Weekend. My favorite event to watch at Cattle Barons is the team branding. Thank you to everyone who makes the event and the scholarship program possible!

Morgen Orem

Hello, my name is Morgen Orem and I am one of this year's Pendleton Cattle Barons scholarship recipients. I am so incredibly thankful for all of the support Cattle Barons has given me not only this year as a recipient, but during the past 3 years as a recipient as well. Because of generous organizations such as Pendleton Cattle Barons, I will be graduating this year with my Bachelors Degree in Agricultural Science with no student debt and no loans which is great and I really appreciate that.

I'm looking forward to attending Texas A&M University this next year to pursue a Masters degree in Agricultural Communications and hopefully return back to Eastern Oregon someday to work and advocate for producers in the area.

Sydney Dodge

My name is Sydney Dodge and I graduated from Pendleton High School this year with the Class of 2022. In high school, I was active in FFA, National Honors Society, The National Junior Angus Association, OHSET, Oregon Reined Cow Horse Association, worked at a coffee shop and graduated with highest honors. I couldn’t be more excited to further my education after high school and pursue my dreams of becoming an Agricultural Lawyer. I plan to attend Colorado State University to major in Ag Business with a concentration in Agriculture Economics and a minor in political science after the completion of my Associates Degree at Blue Mountain Community College. From there, I will continue my education in anticipation of law school. What sparked my passion to become a lawyer in the agricultural industry is when I realized how much I care for the continued success of agriculture. My favorite part of Cattle Barons Weekend is seeing how it brings together the farmers and ranchers in our community. I love how there are so many opportunities to become involved with Cattle Barons, even from a young age.

Sydney Bracher

I am currently a freshman at West Texas A&M University studying Agribusiness with an emphasis in marketing. While attending school I am also competing on the West Texas A and M rodeo team. My parents, Randy & Char, are 5th generation farmers continuing our cattle and wheat and irrigated operation outside of Pendleton. When I graduate from college, I would like to return to the farm and cattle operation and continue working with my family. My favorite part about Cattle Barons is being able to assist Amy Raymond & Jill Skinner in their beginning silversmith classes. Cattle Barons has a great ranch horse and dog sale that raises money for scholarships for the next generation of students. I greatly appreciate being selected as a recipient this year and thank each of the Pendleton Cattle Barons Committee for their community support and efforts for making it such a great success.
